Someone mentioned and I am starting to believe its true ( It's a theory mind you). Cobra Kai was originally Miyagi-Do and somehow got taught to Vietnam soldiers (Kreese), much like Chosen was teaching to American soldiers in part 2. Its all related.

Something tells me that whatever secrets Miyagi has have to do with a darker form of Miyagi-Do karate akin to Cobra Kai’s methods, and that Miyagi made use of this during WW2 after his wife and unborn child died and that’s how he received the Medal of Honor.
