Wasn't sure if Rafa could comeback after being down 2 breaks in the third. Sorry for doubting you Rafa! He sure proved me wrong lol. Vamos!

It's almost if Nadal knew the closer Korda gets to victory, the further away Korda is from victory. Nerves are real, and Nadal knows that.
This match was insane! But I鈥檝e learned to never count Rafa out even though the man gives me a heart attack every now and again. Congratulations Rafa! On to R3锔忊儯 at at Indian Wells! 馃嚜馃嚫馃幘馃弳馃尨鈽锔忦煂

We all know that Rafa's 13 FOs(and counting) will go down as the most unbreakable achievement in history of tennis, but his often overlooked record of 858 consecutive weeks(and counting) stay in the top 10 rankings is equally if not more astounding, I mean, that's 16 and a half years staying inside the top 10! 馃槼 A goat-like stat if you ask me. I'm hoping for the day to see him reach 1000 weeks and beyond! Vamos Rafa!

Players like Korda will have to take a few tough losses like these on the chin as they develop. Even Rafa had some tough defeats early in his career. In terms of ability, Korda has lots. His racquet skills are as good as any American player since Andy Roddick. He will learn from this but in the present, Nadal still rules.

That feels crazy... Without a doubt if Rafa was out after coming behind from 2-5 in the decider but he's truly great fighter anyway by beating young American Sebastian Korda in a tiebreak. VAMOS Rafa 馃嚜馃嚫馃挭
The dominant comeback kid. Rafa has been so successful this season with three titles, one being a grand slam, he easily could鈥檝e said today is not my day and lost his intensity but nope. He fought like he always does and walked away with the W. It鈥檚 great seeing him find ways to win matches.

Never count Rafa out until the umpire says "game, set and match". A true fighter. This must've been a very painful loss for Sebastian but he's doing amazing. Congrats to both players.
The improvement of Nadal over the years, before he couldn't hit a backhand down the line, that shot got him him back in the set. You could pretty much knew his backhand was coming cross court if you came to net, because he didn't seem comfortable with hitting it down the line . Net game, serve, and backhand improved ridiculously over the years.

Wasn鈥檛 surprised Korda couldn鈥檛 serve it out he鈥檚 been struggling to serve out matches in general yet alone against his hero tough loss for him once he increases his mental strength he could put American tennis back on the map. As for Rafa great comeback yet again never counted him out.

When I saw the score where Korda was leading, I was wondering if and hoping for a comeback. And he did.

That's Rafa for ya. Giving some fans frequent heart attacks. Lol. I can't imagine it be healthy to keep watching his matches if he keeps giving heart attacks. Lol
Rafa is an excellent tennis player with tennis skills and beauty of the heart. His love for his family is very obvious which is not evident to other players. His heart is full of love for others ex. His foundation for the needy and caring for disabled people, helping on hands during flood calamity to clean鈥.I don鈥檚 see great people doing that鈥afa, beauty from the inside out combined with intelligence and cleverness bec. he is using both left and right hands skills which means the right and left lobe of the brain that鈥檚 why when he talks with the media it鈥檚 not just abt tennis, he has wisdom and character.

This match reminded me a lot of the match against Zverev here in 2016. Korda outplayed Rafa in the second and most of the 3rd set, just like Zverev did so in the 1 and 3rd set of the 2016 match. Both had the matches on their racket, both served for the match, both had match points and both times Rafa came back mentally strong and capitalized on the opponent's lack of experience at this level. Rafa's outstanding season continues. 16-0 and counting!

At 2-5 I yelled at the TV screen, "Come on Rafa, you can come back from this!!" And so he did. Incredible mind, amazing athlete.
Absolutely amazing comeback. Korda won't forget this lesson anytime soon. It is tough breaking in these days. When Nadal started it wasn't unusual for a player to win a slam before 20 and lots of supposed greats retired before 30. Taylor Fritz winning the final is a great example. He wasn't even ranked in the top 10 and is 25 years old. The Big 3 are amazing but there are few tennis players of their calibre that honed their crafts into their mid-thirties. John Isner is older than Djokovic and Nadal but is still performing well and is ranked in the top 30. It is a long tough slog to the top these days. Consider that Nadal was almost knocked out in the first round of Indian Wells by an unseeded player. Korda has had to struggle in the rankings against players carrying ranking points from 2019, a time when he wasn't even 19 to get a decent draw and it is hard to hone your craft when making it 3 rounds in a draw of 32 is a major accomplishment. The Big 3 had few serious challengers until the semi-finals for large parts of their career while Zverev and Thiem have to compete against the big 3, and another 20 players that are capable on any given day of upsetting Djokovic or Nadal and don't have a decade of winning slams to give them the supreme confidence the Big 3 bring with them to every match. If Sampras hadn't retired at 30 he might not have won many more slams but he probably would have caused plenty of upsets before the round of 16 and tired out the Big 3 before the semifinals. Nadal had a great season last year before wearing himself out during the clay season but the Big 3 are on borrowed time and it will be interesting to see if Nadal can repeat his French Open magic in a draw that includes Djokovic and whether they will have the energy to compete in the finals if they meet each other in the semi-finals. It really wouldn't surprise me to see Korda take a deep run and while he will never match the Big 3's records, I expect he will have a better winning record in future seasons than all of the Big 4 and I don't expect he will leave the door open the next time he is up two breaks in the deciding set of a match against them.
When he hit those back to back passing shots at 4-5 I knew it was over
Although Federer is my favourite player, Rafa is the GOAT. These two uphold the spirit of tennis more than anyone else.

I am reminded of the Rafa Nadal comeback in Indian Wells against Zverev in... 2016 was it? This has a lot of the same flavors as that match back then. Tall, young player with power and potential goes up 5-2 in the deciding set against Nadal only to lose at the last minute despite having multiple chances. One can only hope that Korda doesn't follow the same path of poor clutch performances as Zverev; God knows that I didn't think Zverev would have this reputation 6 years later.
In this specific situation Djokovic would have lose, onlu the true GOAT can comeback like that. GOATdal!

Especially in the 3rd set, Korda hit WAY too many shots right back to Nadal. When you have time, you have to place shots better than that... in or out, at least the point is on your racquet and not on your opponent's... You can't just volley back and forth with Nadal. He is WAY too talented for that...

I know everyone's praising Nadal but I think what Korda pulled off here is pretty insane too given this is Nadal who just won the AO. If Korda had a little more experience with high pressure games and his mental management, he'd have had a good chance at closing the game.
