no it's based on a real life story.
Linda Lovelace was a saint before she met this one boy and they started pornos together, then she got ashamed of herself so she wanted to stop doing it but he raped her, and all the men that helped him make the movies raped her and they beat her.
they arent glorifying anything. they're telling a story they thought needed to be told.

this movie damaged me i couldn't sleep for month linda was always on my mind i keep crying over and over again, then i read the book and omg it broke me it was very hard to get over her story.

Yes it was a very disturbing story.
However what I also found disturbing was when this movie just inserted a scene into the movie that featured this young actress topless doing the breast stoke with the camera positioned from underneath just for sole purpose of seeing her breasts bounce. Considering the whole film is about the objecting of women I felt that to put a scene like that in the film that wasn't even part of the story reeked of the worst of the worst kind of irony. :-(

I saw a documentary on the impact of Linda Lovelace on American sexual mores in the 70s, and the turning point it meant for pornography as big business. She had quite a story, and of course it was sad how she fell into this whole thing essentially becoming a pawn for abuse. From the trailer I'm getting a slight Paul Thomas Anderson tease. Beyond that, seeing Chloe Sevigny is inspiration enough to check this out, I do so miss the indie "It Girls" and cutting edge style provocateurs who used to be the faces and voices for tastemaker style in music, fashion, and film: seems these days everything in those areas has to be affiliated with a tabloid fixture or reality star to get any shine. Also, the fact that it sounds like they have Alice Smith on the soundtrack instead of the usual Billboard top 10 suspects could be further indication that this project won't be a vapid treatise on Lovelace's story and phenomenon.
