In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

“Mary Poppins Returns” is directed by Rob Marshall. The screenplay is by David Magee and the screen story is by Magee & Rob Marshall & John DeLuca based upon the Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers. The producers are John DeLuca, p.g.a., Rob Marshall, p.g.a. and Marc Platt, p.g.a. with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer. The music score is by Marc Shaiman and the film features all new original songs with music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. The film also stars Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

I just turned 31 and watched this a few nights ago and it made me feel like I was a child again.. it was so happy and brilliant but somehow I cried. I loved it so much after renting it I went and bought it. I loved the acting, the story, the music and the magic. True Disney at its finest.

I was reluctant to watch this movie knowing it wouldn't have the outstanding Julie Andrews. However, I just came back from giving it a chance, and my oh my, what an absolute masterpiece. One of those movies that every single person should watch just to remember the beauty and light of life in such a darkened world. The acting was phenomenal, and the music tugs just as hard at your heart strings as much as the original did... Just remember to bring a box of tissues! This movie is absolutely amazing!

What a beautiful film, a worthy sequel to a great Disney classic, a masterpiece without a doubt and a luxurious cast plus guest stars Meryl Streep and Angela Lansbury
Me and my dad went and saw the film last night and needless to say it was a very emotional time for him. My dad watched the first Mary Poppins movie when he was 5 years old and he’s now 59. He started crying 10 minutes in to Mary Poppins Returns and afterwards all throughout. He said the resemblance between the two movies took him back to when he was a little boy, how everything was so new and exciting to him.

I don’t care what the critics have to say, this movie is wonderfully spectacular and even if you haven’t seen the original it will still make you cry.

I almost cried while watching this trailer. I've watched this movie last year and I feel like I wanna see it again. This is so magical ;) both this and Julie Andrews' version will leave smile on your faces from start to finish.
But what I want with this sequel is that, the story has more depth and emotion, especially when Mary Poppins is singing a Lullaby to Michael's children, that's just so comforting. :) Great job, Emily Blunt. Everytime I see you in other movies, you're presence always reminds me that "Hey, I'm Mary Poppins. Spit spot... Off we go!"
I saw the movie and I loved it. A little girl sitting in front of me in the cinema said "this is true real disney". She took the words out of my mouth. Congratulations, it's a masterpiece. We need this kind of movie in this world filled with desolation and dark stuff. a thousand times thank you.
I went to see this today with my son & his friend.
We absolutely loved it.
I got emotional & the songs are so well written & the choreography was brilliant.
It was like being at a musical in the cinema.
Dick Van Dyke made me shed a tear god bless him still going at his age.
Infact all the cast were great.
I loved it as brought back memories of being a kid.
Thank you ❤

I finally watched this just today! At 7 years of age I saw the original Mary Poppins in the theater when it first came out, and didn't know what to expect with this new one. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that this movie had the same magic as the first! If I were a child today and saw it I would be just as enchanted with 'Mary Poppins Returns' as I was as a child watching the original 'Mary Poppins'! Lovely!

"Yes, I suppose it must
Practically perfect in every way"
The last conversation is really touched. I am crying 😭😭😭 All of us used to have the childhood like that. But gradually, we all rejected it and forgot all the magical things that used to exist in our life. Finally, at the time they grow up, they will almost forget Mary Poppins and refuse all the mythical things in their life before.
This movie is amazing and wonderful! I experienced almost all possible feelings and emotions during the view - from smile and laugh to cry. I think, last time I felt them - nearly 10-15 years ago. I already though they were forgotten by me... But now I know - they do not! :-)

The original movie was the first I ever watched. I was 5 and went at night with my step-uncle and his date in my pajamas and robe. The next morning my grandfather and mother stopped me from climbing onto the roof with an umbrella! What magic.

I'm excited! I'm going to see it today. The original came out before I was born, but I've carried nothing but adoration for Mary Poppins since I remember first seeing it. Nostalgia is what I'm feeling, and no matter what others may think about this film; there's a child in us all awaiting to see this magic more than five (5) decades later. Dick Van Dyke, wow!!!! Happy Holidays to all... 🤗

It's amazing how well Emily Blunt plays Mary Poppins (at least from what I've seen in the trailers), and she has the most amazing singing voice.
Watching this now, and I find myself totally a mess! I’ve got tears in my eyes because I’m so happy that Marry Poppins IS BACK!! I feel like a little girl who is lucky enough to see her again. As I live and breath.... 💗
Just saw it this weekend. I don’t think I wasn’t smiling for any part of the film. It’s truly amazing!
Yes I'm old enough to have seen the original as a kid and thought Emily Blunt was great as Mary Poppins. Pretty special seeing Dick Van Dyke in his 90's dancing on a desk top and I teared up more than once watching it and being taken back to my childhood by this movie. Would have been great if Julie Andrews had done a cameo but I probably would've needed another couple of boxes of tissues if she had. Great to see these kinds of movies still being made.
Honestly, I didn’t really get too into the movie at first; but it has since really grown on me! I guess I didn’t know what to expect, but I love Emily Blunt in this role. Love her demeanor, accent, look, everything!
I love how they kept the animation like the first movie. and didn’t use high cgi to make it look modern. still has it’s old fashion feeling. love it
Loved this movie. A great sequel to a classic!

Saw it with my kids and we really enjoyed it. The songs were kind of a let down in comparison to the original movie, but it would be pretty tough to match the originality, inventiveness and craftsmanship of the first film's songs. Those songs were so unique, catchy and memorable.
Nice of Disney to bring back some of our childhood memories...I hope to see The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton brought to the big screen someday soon too!

Thank goodness the studio didn't take the easy way out and simply do a remake. I wasn't a huge fan of the original Mary Poppins as a kid (preferred Willy Wonka, myself) but they absolutely nailed this sequel. No, the songs aren't eternal classics, but most of them were pretty good. The animation and all the other callbacks to the original movie were lovingly and appropriately done.
Am I the only one who feels sorry for Mary Poppins in the end of the film. After working so keenly without receiving salary to help the family, no one even thanked her and just left her behind in the park. She was literally unemployed now and just left and went back to her original life. (What about she her own family?)

But anyway, she would probably have to spend an awful while in the Ministry of Magic for exposing all those magics to the muggles.

I didn't think Mary Poppins Returns was spot on perfect, but it was still very, very good. My kids are still singing the songs months later. It was vastly superior than the reboot of Dumbo we just saw and will quickly forget.

I’m a grown man, a home builder. I went in to see this movie in my lumberjack shirt, cowboy boots and my carhart vest. My mom showed me the original quite frequently when I was 4-8 and then I forgot about it. I was choked up the entire movie hoping nobody saw what was happening to me. It stirred up some childhood emotions and memories I didn’t know I had. Most embarrassing 2 hours of my life.
Loving the 2D animation included in that dance sequence. Great to see Disney channeling the original movie’s roots, while still modernizing it to a new generation.

Before I saw this movie I had only seen the teaser (it just showed the first few seconds of this one) and I was extremely worried. Based off the first trailer it seemed as if it would be completely different. I recently saw this movie and it was the happiest I've been in a while. They stayed true to the original whilst still adding their own twist. I would definately reccomend this to any Disney fan.
I have to say, I love Mary Poppin's outfit in this film. It's like an idealized version of the one Julie Andrew's wore. Like, this is how you _remember_ it looking, but when you watch the original film, you realize that's not how it actually was.

So good to see such a great, timeless classic be brought back to life with modern movie tech. And how great it is to see Disney Animation back at it with 2d traditional animation- even if for a short while.

Also, Emily Blunt was made for this role. So excited for this movie.

I'll admit, the second I saw this, I groaned. After seeing the Dumbo "remake" being announced, I was losing faith in Disney sequels to old properties. Christopher Robin seems promising, though I have yet to see it, but this? This looks wonderful! They didn't play with the source material like Dumbo, everyone seems to fit their role, and the fact they *kept the 2D animation instead of much easier CGI* is amazing! Can't wait for this one, don't let us down Disney!

I am so excited for this! I know it will never top the first one and that Emily Blunt can't replace Julie Andrews, but this seems like it will be a wonderful sequel with a great cast and I still think Emily Blunt was a perfect choice to play the role of Mary Poppins in her own way while taking a bit of what Julie Andrews did. Definitely going to be my Christmas Day movie with the fam!
